Sacramental Preparation for Children

First Reconciliation and First Communion

At about age 7, children can begin to prepare to receive communion, the body and blood of Christ, for the first time.  In conjunction with Archdiocesan guidelines, children must celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to beginning classes for First Communion. Children prepare for, and celebrate, the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the fall during a special Reconciliation liturgy. Children prepare for, and celebrate, First Communion in the spring at a special Saturday morning mass. All preparation classes are parent-child and take place on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:30pm.

Parents who have conflicts which do not allow them to attend the preparation classes may contact the parish office to arrange for at-home preparation classes, with guidance from the Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation.  Please contact Anita Florence or the parish office to sign your child up.

RCIA adapted for children:

Children of catechetical age (7 or older) whose parents are seeking for them either baptism or entrance into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church from another Christian tradition need to contact the parish office at (425) 888-2974.
